The image is of Fanny Cerrito. In 1838 – 40 Fanny was prima ballerina at La Scala Milan. A little later she worked with Jules Perrot who was choreographing Ondine.
In this lithograph the Italian ballerina is depicted as being a fairy floating over a lake. She is surrounded by other fairies whose shawls are blown about by the wind.
